This painting was done for an exhibition called N3XT Canada and will be on display at the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto from Monday, November 16th to Friday, December 18th, 2020.

The theme of this Arts Competition was Canadian Unity and that will hopefully explain the subject matter I have chosen.

By using a Monochrome painting on the figures, I hope to create a more serious mood in the painting and only using the red in the depiction of the Canadian Flag.  Also the red is synonymous with blood as there is always loss of life still going on.  The state of affairs of the First Nations are extremely discouraging. The first and oldest problem we have regarding unification. Treatment of our first peoples sends a global message about our values. We have no right to interfere with any other nation until we address our own and correct the centuries old abuse that is still occurring in our Canadian culture..

"I wanted to capture the long journey, the sadness,  the humiliation and yet the steadfastness of continuing to move forward despite what Canada is pretty much not doing to help"  to quote a friend of mine.

Arts and Letters Club is located at 14 Elm Street, Toronto, Ontario,  M5G 1G7
